I have an 06 F250 xlt, and today my climate control switch malfunctioned. No matter what setting I have it on, it will only blow air out the defrost air vents on top of the dash. I was hoping someone on here would have some input of where to start looking to solve this problem. The cold/hot air **** works, It seems like if I turn the climate control switch to air condition, the air conditioner comes on, but the air still blows out the top. Any input is greatly appricieated.
Boy oh boy Phish555,I just read a thread somewhere not too long ago about that problem.Do a search,or check the v10 section out,I can't remember where I read it,sorry. There was some answers though, good luck.
Thanks crazyrwe, I could not find any threads that were exactly related to my problem. I did talk to a friend who is a ford mechanic, and he said it is in default mode and most likely I have a vaccume leak some where. I could not find anything obvious, so he said the electric motor on the vaccume pump could have gone out. He will take a look at it for me.
There is a TSB about this somewhere. It has to do with checking the vacuum lines behind the glove box. ITs easy to pull down, and take a peek back there to make sure they are all there and undamaged.
Thanks for the replies, I fixed the problem today. 145$ new vaccume pump from the dealer. I checked the old one by hooking up 12V to it, nothing. I put a volt meter on the incoming connector and got 12V plus, so I knew it was getting power. New pump solved the problem.
Yes, warranty is up, 55k miles already on my 06. I bought it used with 48k on it. It was a fleet vehicle in the state of OH. Im guessing it was on a road stripe painting crew judging from the little bit of yellow road paint spilled in the bed liner.
