I am now looking @ the AFE stage 1 and the AIS. Do both have cold air intake capability? Which do you think is the best for a 03 Excursion. The Stage 2 is too expensive for my budget.
AIS is a Ford product and fits like it was made for your truck, well because it is and provides the best filtering available. If you need extra air for modifications, add a foam fender sleeve to bring in more cool air intot he filter. I have the AIS on all my Powerstrokes and wouldn't use anything else.
Depends if you plan the get the AFE with the standard media the AIS is fine as well. But if you plan to get the AFE with the Pro Guard 7 media that stops the dirt as well as anything and still flows the air then the AFE is the way to go. We at DPPI are very very concerned about dirt ingestion and we promote the PG7 all the time because of it. They are 25-50.00 more than a 4 layer system and well worth it for the life of the engine. Plus the PG7 is washable and the AIS is a throw away costly filter. Call us if you have any questions etc we'll be glad to help.
The AIS was and is my choice. I don't like the fender sleeve, I prefer the zoodad mod because the air is much cleaner, between the AIS and my BTM my EGT temps dropped 100 degrees plus!!!
