Talking Stacks... Nuff Said!!

Hey guys. Just thought Id show ya what Ive been up to.

I decided to go w/ Stacks, now I have a MUCH better stroker. I also did it right and put in an aftermarket downpipe, 3"-4", then it hooks right up to 5" flex pipe under the bed and up to the stacks.

Thanks guys.

They are 5" turnouts. I was gunna git 6"ers but I dont think they wudda sounded as good. They make kits and sell them online... but I just went down to the Peterbilt dealer and had them order me all the parts... I had to do a lil fabbin to git the passenger side elbow to fit right (cut and welded it onto the Y-pipe), but It was a heck of alot cheaper for me to do that... shipping wudda been killer to Alaska.

The enigne is pretty much stock right now, but I am soon investing in an aftermarket aircleaner and a 6 position custom burnt chip. That shud add in a lil black smoke to go w/ the revv... The Rice Burners love it, heh heh.

How much did the project end up costing ya? I've been thinking about doing this.. I already have the downpipe. You say that you went from the 3" dp to 4" then used 5" flexpipe up the bed? Did you get the y-pipe from peterbilt too?

Yes, I did get it from Peterbilt... I had to fab up a system to make the passengers side elbow fit, The elbow I ordered was too long, so I had to shorten it, and weld it directly to the Y-Pipe.

Just go down to one of yer Big-Rig Dealers and tell em what ya want, show em a picture of a set-up if Necessary. They should help ya figger it all out.

Mine costed about $400.... but thats cuz I know someone at the dealership, but you should still be able to git a good deal w/o knowing someone.

The thing I really do like about my set-up opposed to some of the kits you can buy, is that the segment of the Y-pipe that goes through the bed is a full 5". Some of the other kits are 4" thru the bed then it splits to 5"; This means you can only run 4" flex under the bed. Not a Biggie, but I like the 5".

Good Luck, just post up if you got any more questions, or need piks of something. I really hope ya do it... it will look sweet on any stroker

Those look great! Very nice looking. I also like how you added what looks like diamond plating around the part of the stacks that runs along at the front bottom of the bed... seems that that way you can still use that part of the bed and stack stuff on it, whereas without that you'd be putting your stuff on the hot exhaust pipes.

Thanks guys...

And yes, I ran it around w/ the bare pipes in the bed and that was just not gunna werk. Everythign rolled up and touched it. It would either burn whatever touched it (plastics), or it would set the stacks out of alignment.
