List: i have a 02 Edge and want to replace the shocks. What are the recomendations? I replaced the shocks on my wifes 02 Sport-Trac with Monroe Sensa-Tracs and she (of all people) really noticed the difference. Im thinking of trying the same for my Ranger but see that others think they are to "harsh" for the city/highway type driving I do. I assume this may be due that the Ranger is a bit "lighter" that the Sport-Trac.
Lots of people on here support the Bilsteins. Not the cheapest option, but good all around shocks, pretty reliable as well. And if you plan on doing any offroading, great shocks to have.
I liked my ride in the ol' Ranger when I changed out my shocks (front) for the Sensa-Tracs. They seem to give a really nice soft/firm ride, but it seemed they stiffened up when they really should. I didnt go all around with the Sensa-Tracs b/c I needed the versatility of the load leveling shocks on the rear for all the enclosed trailers and 20'+ Caravelle Ski boat I'd occasionally pull across town. If it wasn't for the trailers, I would of went all around with the Sensa-Tracs. If it comes time for this 150 to get shocks. The Sensa-tracs are on the top of my list. I don't have to worry with the load leveling shocks this time, since the truck came with a nice rake.
I thought the sensa tracks were to soft on my 99 F150 so when I replaced the factory shocks on my 99 Ranger I went with the Monroe Reflex. They are a mono tube like the Bilstein although less expensive. I wish I had put the Reflex's on the F150 I like them very much on the Ranger.
