Can someone direct me to a website to explain the codes on my rating plate? I just bought a 1972 F100 and am wondering what the original equipment was. It reads as follows 131 X F101 8 4 C 17. If you can help me I would appreciate it.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Jan-02 AT 07:09 PM (EST)]I have checked 8 sources of paint codes for Fords in 1972.
There are No references for Code X as an Exterior code.
There is a X code for Interior.
X code for the interior is a Green colour.
In 1978 there was an X code which was :LIGHT TAN
Also,
There was an X code for Ford Cars in 65-68.
The colour X covered a Burgundy/Maroon and also Presidential Blue.
