Probably been answered a hundred times buI can't find it.Drive train slack!?From a dead stop, apply accelerator and I feel slack in the drive train? My friends '01 does it too.Seems like driveshaft slack. BOB
Trucks only got 45K on it but it's done it since new. It's not u-joints.It doesn't "clunk".If it's "normal"slack,it's a lot.I've had a shop fot 30 years and this is not normal for me. BOB

Have you tried putting it in neutral, setting the parking brake and rolling under the truck to try and rock the driveshaft? I'm wondering if the spider gear pins are loose in the housing or something like that.

I've seen one or two posts where the slip joint splines didn't get greased from the factory. You might try seperating the shaft and greasing thoses splines up.
Haven't lifted the truck lately, last time was on the front end rack where the tires didn't leave the ground.I'll have a look at the slip joint. Thanks for the suggestions.BOB
My 01 did it since I bought it. I made shims in 1/4 inch increments and dropped down my carrier bearing. It made all the difference in the world. I have 350 blocks in the rear and I ended up with a one inch spacer.
