I want to put 17" or 18" rims on my 2002 F150 supercrew XLT 4x4. I've read all the articles about how the vehicle is prone to vibrations with oversized tires. I don't intend to go much wider I just want the tires to eat up some of the wheel well. I know the FX4 package came with larger tires, are the specs the same on XLT or will the larger diameter mess with the speed sensor, speedo, xfer case etc? Also I bought the vehicle used, it was carfaxed with no damage history. However the driver rear tire protrudes about an inch further to the edge of the fender than the passenger rear, (yes the tires are all the same size/make) General Grabbers. I thought maybe bent frame, but I look closely at these trucks whenever I see one in aprking lot or on the road and it seems many have this condition. Can any one verify if this is indeed how they were made?
What's Up smolavision? and welcome to . I am not to sure about any vibrations isuess with the pre 04 F-150's. maybe try posting it in that Forum (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/f...y.php?f=25)and i am sure some one in there will be able to shed some light on the issue for you.
