Hey guys.Just bought new tires.285-75-16. Stock rims.Drove it home and when I turn left i hear a noise.Found out the right side was rubbing on the bumper on left turns.I thought no big deal I'll just shim the bumper a bit.WRONG. I've got the right side shimmed as far as I can and it still rubs. No problems with the left side. I checked all the front end parts and nothing is bent. Now here is the question.I have a feeling my axle has moved forward on the right side. Can anyone tell me the best measuring points to go from to tell if it has moved?Sorry for the long post.I appreciate any help.
I have the same size tires (toyo's open country) on a 96 CC 4x4 with no tire rub, but it's really close. I didn't try to move bumper yet but as things start to wear out it might hit too. Sorry, can't tell ya a good place to measure to see if something has shifted.
mine rubs too. put a leveling kit on and was good for about a year and half then i went on my last trip on the dunes and noticed it again. my spring bushings are shot. i would measure from the rear axle front spring hanger to the rear of the front axle u-bolt. but i will tell you as a mechanic who does work on car fresh out of the body shop and those that are brand new the axle are never straight. never!!! my alignment machine will giive me criss cross, track width, and setback measurements and i see new vehicle off my a half inch regularlly.
i would not hurt but it may not be anything that will help either. but maybe they can look and see if something is bent or worn that will give you a starting point. i also just noticed you have a 350 and mine is a 250 so you really should not rub. your truck should sit just as high as mine with the leveling kit on. maybe you have spring or bushing that are bad.
