i was going to shim my fuel pressure regulator today, so i put my psi gauge on the schrader valve and to my suprise when i reved the engine to around 2000 rpm the gauge wint to 70ish psi. i know for sure it has nothing done to it since factory. so why would it have this much psi??? or am i doing something wrong??? i have a chip but that has nothing to do with this does it??? thanks
i used the 19-42 bolt or somethin along those lines. got the idea off of Baz's page. Anywho, i wouldn't recomend going above 75psi. It does help out idle roughness, however i had to modify the fuel bowl assembly as i blew the original one to pieces on the highway doin 70mph. Not a good situation. shot the FPR schrader valve and plunger bolt and assembly right off the bowl. takin half the fpr and fuel bowl with it. so i modified it alittle bit
what are split shot inj. and how can i tell if it is a ca engine. the truck was bought new in missouri and has been owned by 1 other person besides myself. he never touched it.
If it is a cali truck it has larger split shot injectors (~120cc) compared to 49 state trucks with single shot (98cc).
"Split-shot injectors were originally installed on 1996 and 97 model/year trucks with California emissions, and are used in engines from 98.5 on. These injectors prolong the injection time to decrease emissions without reducing power"
I think you can use you VIN # to find out if it has Cali emmision
first pic is a ca emissions sticker on the under side of the hood where it latches.
second pic is the teal valve cover sticker.
third pic is the fuel dampener under the pedistal on the back of the fuel pump it says bosch on it.
another way is your pcm code.
i highly doubt you have one if you bought it from original owner in the midwest.
