To those who have added a pusher pump,
What pump are you using and what are the pressure and gallons per hour specs?
Thanks in advance for your replies,
mueckster
I don't have one yet, but several of the guys here have used a Carter pump, like the Street/Strip pump or the Silver pump seen here: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...tegoryId=10307
A few have used the Holley Red and Holley Blue pumps as well. Any of them will work. Just use what you prefer, or can find the cheapest at any given time. Typically want to use 5-9 psi and 70+ GPH flow.
Yep, that's the one I'm using and it definitely makes a difference. It makes a little more noise when you turn the key on, but can't hear it once the engine starts.
Yes, I wired it in parrallel with the factory pump and can't tell you what the exact amp draw is, but the original fuse has been able to handle both of them. This is the way that cookie wired his and works fine since it only runs when the factory pump is running.

I' m with Guzzle. I've got the same thing, and the fuse has been holding fine. My rig is my daily driver also.
i want to take this idea and kind of transform it into another common modificaiton like Kwik. put a pusher pump (lift pump) in the tank, and then have the stock one on the framerail. can this be done, and if so, with what?
Many of the earlier Ford MPFI gas engines used a lift pump in the tank and a hi press pump in the frame rail. You could easily adapt one of these to the fuel line in the tank. They attach with hose. I tried to find some specs on the pumps, but was unable to. But, these pumps were designed to do what you asking. I changed out the sending unit/ fuel pump assembly on a '87 Ford Ranger V6 with such a pump. You can buy the pump by itself. It seems like this pump and strainer would work. Or, you could adapt the factory strainer to the bottom of the pump.
I am running a holley red pump (7psi, 97gph) wired it to the factory wiring, been what a month or so never popped a fuse yet, and still working great.
The intank pump Idea would work good too expecially since doing the intank mod you need to splice the line to the pickup anyway you could just shorten the whole thing and put the pump inline with hoses instead of a coupler for the steel hard lines. running the power to it would be the hardest part and I think that could be resolved easy enough with a through bulkead wiring connector of some type.
