It crossed my mine that I should try and get a tire that'll last longer than 30,000 miles. I was thinking of 3 different 35x12.50R15s all in the $160-170 range basically.
1) Mickey Thomson's new MTZ
2) BFG M/T
3) Procomp M/T
1st question, Do any of you guys run these type of tires and how many miles do you get?
2nd Does one stand out more than another in the mud?
3rd Which would you choose?
first of all...
BFG's are usually a 50k tire...whether its the A/T or the M/T...which is a good thing.
second of all...
where do you find 35" BFG M/Ts for $170...
(the 315's (a/t's) i just got are about $200...and thats smaller than a 35)
(and the M/T's usually cost even more - the 305 M/T is $280)
and third...
when you do find 'em for $170 - let the rest of us know so we can give 'em all of our business.
obvioulsy though - all kidding aside...
ive had 4 sets of BFG's in my life - and they are just awesome...they perform extremely well on AND off road...i cant say enough about em...just rotate 'em regularly and theyll never let you down!!
Just about any where.
A 35x12.50R15 from Just about any where will be about $170 if not a few bucks less.
you might have a 17 or 18" rim, which is why the cost is so much.
But thanks for the other info.
bf's are a great tire.. i ran the procomp x-terrains on my 2000 powerstroke CC and got 45K no problem outta them and they were excellent offroad and on...
I dunno I had BFG A/T's and they only lasted a little over 20k. I've got 315 Goodyear MTR's now and love 'em. Had them 2 years now and seem to be wearing well and the traction diff is night and day.
I need to make a correction I just checked and found I was mistaken the BFG mudders 33X12:50/16.5s were $156.00 not $138.00. Sorry for the miss information.

That's what I don't understand, buddy of mine with a 78 150 had the exact same tires, size and all, he got em a year before me and he's still running them! Not that many burnouts ;-), that was in my stock 400 days. But yeah I just had bad luck (like usual) I guess.
I'm not worried about ride quality to tell the truth.
I'd rather a nice Mud tire that gets decent mileage. So it sounds like I'll be getting BFGs or if that doesn't work I might consider the Procomps....
I have put aver 43k on my Pro-Comp MTs. I would have gotten more out of them, but I had an aligment problem I let go for too long. I know that there a few anti ProComp folks out there, but I have zero complaints about them. Good in the mud and on the trail. Can get a buzzy at 30-35 mph, however. Rotate them regularly and they will last.
