I do not have left brake light or turn signal after connecting adapter to factory tow harness. The yellow wire on the truck connector has no power with the truck brake light and turn signal working. Right side and running lights work fine. Any idea how to fix yellow wire or what wire can I connect my left side brake and turn signal to. Any help would be appreciated. Looks like the yellow wire runs back to front of truck.
Check the plug connection under the hood. I had the same probs and it stemmed from crud in the plug. Not knowing how old your truck is then i can't comment on the wiring condition.
Clean all contacs with contact cleaner and put in some dielectric grease, that has fixed a number of electrical issues on my '88.
Ground are another place to look, my truck has some grounds at the rear of the be that connects into the wiring harness.
If the problem is only when the trailer is connected, take a close look at the bulb connections on the trailer. Had a similar problem with my boat trailer where one side was dead on the trailer and truck when the trailer was hooked up. Turned out to be a bulb contact was touching both contacts in the tail light and stopped it from working. Disconnected trailer and truck was fine again. My Dad had seen the same thing before and went directly to the problem.
