No this was multiple shiftings between 2 gears as I was letting my foot slowly off the accelerator. It shifted up and down a couple times trying to find the right gear for the rpm and throttle position. This happened very quickly with in a couple seconds, it did not sound very pleasant.

Yes I updated the software before I even installed it into my truck. Since then I have put it on setting 1, the shifting seams to be a bit better, but even there I notice when you really want to accelerate the shifts seem almost too hard like it could be damaging. I will try setting 2 when I'm towing the fifth wheel to see how it shifts when loaded.

Hey Dex... did you modify your shift firmness? I have mine at +2 on 1-2 and 2-3. I have it on +1 on 3-4. I also have my points -2 on 1-2 and 2-3. I have never had an issue and when I stomp it. It downshifts firmly and takes off. Maybe your tire size is set incorrect. This will make a difference in how it reacts. I know mine was off a bit and I checked my tire size setting. It was off by 20 mm. Once reset it drove much better and I am now getting better mileage. When you go into your power program select load previous settings and check your tire size. I am willing to bet it is off a bit. Mine went out of size by itself after I set it. It hasn't had any issues since.

I have never messed with the shift firmness or pressure. I should really check the tire size though mind you I have never changed the wheels and tires from stock. From what I understand the edge uses the factory tire settings. Thanks for your help 4by4 I'll check the tire size.

Jsojo, you take your edge computer and hook it up to your home computer with a provided USB cable. On Edge's website they post updated firmware (software) for your edge computer. You down load the update and this overwrites the old firmware on your edge computer. Then you put it back in your truck!

I was under that assumption myself until I checked it. It wasnt even close to my Stock 18" wheels, (275 65 18 = 2559mm) as per the EDGE owners manual.

Hey Cobra.... mine was the same way. This is why I told him to check it. I don't know if it is wrong in the stock PCM program or if the EVO read it wrong. But if this whole truck is computer controlled, including the throttle, I would have to believe that this would raise some problems if it weren't set correctly. Hey Dex, no problem thats what we are all here for. These things are so tempermental sometimes that we need places like this to fix stupid things that pop up!

But is is possible to see gains from the Edge if you leave the stock shifting alone, right?

Yes it's possible. Keep in mind if you shorten the shifts you will see better mileage. If you lengthen the shifts you will see better performance. These motors make the most torque and HP at 3500-4500 RPM's so if you keep it wound up tight you will see improved 1/4 mile times and improved 0-60 times.

If you firm up the shifts a bit ( I'm not saying slam you into the seat firm) just a little bit, you will improve transmission life also. The clutch packs won't generate as much heat thus improving trans life.
