Coolant and filter revisited

Well, finally got a fan clutch wrench that fit, came right off, but still had to travel a bit. Also, what were the torque specs on the fan clutch...50? Hope so....in any case she's back together.

I was wondering what coolant everyone is using along with the filter assembly (where did you get it). I know this thread has been posted many times, but I've read a few conflicting reports on the cat elc coolant. Although, If I don't hear anything negative, I'll probably pick some up today.

Still need injectors too..

Any thoughts and as usual... thanks again,
Rich

i used the filter kit from napa and refilled with ford gold coolant. one thing that kept me away from other coolants like the cat and evans is that if i am traveling and have a leak and need to fill more than the gallon i carry i want something that will be availible anywhere.

Hey TJ, I just check your photo album, I thought you had a pictures of your filter setup and I was right. I remember seeing some a while back, but couldn't remember who.

They look good, a couple questions though:
1) Did you have to fab the mount on the alternator that holds the filter?
2) Did the 90 threaded pipes on the filter assembley come with the kit
3) And where does the long red hose on the filter go, to the top of the water pump?

Pictures on so helpful, I need to get some up.

thanks again,

thanks again,
yes i fabbed the mount to the alt. it is just a peice of angle iron that i trimmed and drilled to fit.

yes it does come with the 90's

the long red hose comes from the water pump but i have since changed the outlet from going back intot he heater hose to "t"ing into the 3/8 line that goes formt he overflow bottle to the radiator. so i just used 3/8 hose for the return.

i will try to update my pics this weekend.
if you have anymore questions let me know!

Correct torque is 84-112 ft-lb. 50 is a bit light, so reef on it some more.

Thanks again guys, don’t have the filter installed yet, but finished the water pump and she’s running again, sort of. I’m running the cat coolant for now, but need to fix a couple issues before I move on to the filter. I’ll start another post for those...
