Anybody know of a way to make my 01' F550 cc ride better empty? I don't want to lose any of the towing or payload capability as it's still my tow vehicle for my 5th wheel. This year with the arrival of the twins I've been forced to use it as a daily driver as it's the only thing with room for the car seats that we own. I'm hoping to get something else after we close on the construction loan for the house that's going to be awhile.
So is it mainly the rear of the truck that makes it ride a bit rough or is there something in addition to the shackles you guys are doing to the front?
well when you're unloaded, the lightest end of the truck has the stiffest springs. the velvet ride will fix this, making it smoother unloaded, and i guess it bottoms out on it's stops and acts like a normal fixed shackle when so much is put on it. i guess it lowers the rear 1-2", perfect for you F-250 owners to step up to F-350 rear blocks.
Hey strokin, is the block exchange very hard to do? I like the idea of using the Velvet Rides, but don't want to lose the height. Sounds like if I used the front levelers, Velvet Rides, and the 350 blocks, hopefully the truck will ride level, but more smoothly. Is this the right line of thinking.
So get this, they don't have them in stock. They are on back order. I called today wondering what was up, since they never charged my card. The gal sounded flakey, and after being very creative with my questions I gathered the following.
The OEM isn't making any more.
They have none in stock.
Another vendor may have these available some day.
I had no order to cancel because they were on back order.
(even though she said they'd ship them when they arrive)
They have no arrival date.
They will contact me before sending/charging my card, on the order they can't cancel, because they don't have the order, because it's on back order, or may be sent from another vendor.
I called the people who sells the velvet rides also and as mentioned above, they are out of stock, with 500 on order.. If you call them, they will e-mail you when they are available.. 1 800 216 1632. Sounds like a good product. He also said the shackles won't lower pick ups, but might lower certain SUVs and Vans..
