55' 3" drop axle

I installed a 3" drop axle on my 1955 f100 I used the exsiting springs which are about 4 years old from LMC magazine....Well my problem is that it is lower on the driver side than the passanger side....could it be the spings? or the rear end? can I use some kind of spacer? Help..................

Other folks who had the same problem said it was the springs. Do you have caster wedges in them? If one dropped out, that side would be low.

In any event, spacers should do the job.

Take the springs out and swap side for side. If the pass side is now low it's the springs. Also check with the shocks disconnected, if they are gas filled and one has leaked it could make the difference.
One other thing, try loosening the shackle bolts with the truck sitting on the ground or on jackstands under the axle, if one of the eye bushings is torn or you preloaded one by tightening the bolt while the weight was off the axle it could also affect the ride height.

What are caster wedges. I installed the shims the new king pins came with. Are those the Caster wedges?

Caster wedges are tapered wedges that go between the spring and the axle to tip the top of the axle back to increase caster. Dropping the front end decreases caster which was marginal in the original design.

Didn't come across those wedges...I just installed that front end and have not aligned this bad boy...but I will have to look for those if the front end needs an increase in caster. any idea where to find them?

I was under the impression that shocks won't change the height of the truck, they just resist rapid motion.

Mid Fifty carries them. Caution if you need more than one on each side (possible to likely depending on drop and how it was achieved so order 4) then you will need to replace the spring centerbolt with one that has a longer head (also available from MF) so it still indexes into the hole in the axle to keep the axle from shifting. When changing spring centerbolts be sure to clamp the spring on each side of the bolt with HD C clamps or you'll be in for a big, potentially dangerous surprise when the nut comes off!
Gas charged shocks will raise the suspension over non gas filled ones so if one is charged and the other leaked down it can affect the ride height. A set of non charged shocks will not affect the ride height.
