The automatic day/night rear view mirror in my truck is OK on smooth roads. When the road is bumpy, the image is blurred because the mirror is vibrating. Is there anything that can be done to correct the problem? Has anyone else had this problem and is just living with it like I have been?
Ive got the standard mirror in my truck and it does the same thing. I can be sitting in my truck with the windows up and if a car with a loud sound system goes by it will shake the mirror. Im just living with it.
My side mirrors shake too, but that only happens when Im driving faster than 50 mph.
The only way that I have been able to stop the "shake" is to tighten the little screw that mounts it. If it attached to the metal tab that is glued to the windshield, then there is usually a small allen screw that comes loose regularly.
The problem is not with the mount to the windshield, it is in the ball end of the mirror shaft. If you grab the mirror to adjust it, you can move it around a little before it moves on the ball. It is like the socket is loose inside the mirror housing. I haven't tried taking it apart to check it inside. It has done this since the truck was new.
