Can yall help me out I have a 1993 f150 5.0 with the e4od. I just finally pulled the codes today because I was getting a check engine light. I got code
12 - Cannot control RPM during ER Self-Test high RPM check.
23 - Closed throttle TPS voltage higher or lower than expected.
22 - MAP/BP sensor out of self test range.
31 - PFE or EVP circuit has intermittently failed below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts.
32 - EVP circuit has intermittently failed below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts.
34 - PFE or EVP circuit has intermittently failed above the closed limit of 0.67 volts.
Would yall mind telling me what these really mean and what I need to replace or fix.
You may have some old stored codes. If the codes are not cleared, they remain in the computer memory. Before you replace any parts, disconnect your negative battery cable for a few minutes to clear your codes. Reconnect the cable and drive the truck to trigger any new codes.
Every time I replaced a sensor that was causing an error code, my problem was fixed. I think it is such a great system and I swear by it.
Don't sweat code 12. I think it means you did not rev it high enough during the functional part of the test.
TPS probably needs replacing.
Bad MAP sensor and your truck may not run. If you do get another code 22, replace the MAP sensor.
EVP sensor mounts on the EGR valve. If you get any EVP codes again, replace the EVP sensor. You can also remove the EGR valve and check for carbon buildup on the seat. That may give you an error code as well.
Alright I disconnected the battery and hooked it back up then drove it then got back turned the truck off and did the test I got code 22,15,16, and I think 122. Also I heard something about an engine running self test. Will having the engine turned on instead of just having the key to run give me any different codes or does that not matter.
Thanks
About a week ago the truck started jerking really really bad at about 40mph and it would do it if I hit the gas hard sometimes. I replaced the cap rotor button spark plugs and spark plug wires beecause I thought it was just miss firing real bad. Well a couple days after I change everything it was working great and had alot more power then it started doing it again and the truck lost alot of power. Everytime it does it the check engine light will come on also. After I connected the battery back and tested it without driving it I got codes 15, 16, 22, and 122 but after I drove the truck and checked it again I just got codes 22 and 122.
When my MAP sensor went bad, I had to play with the throttle just to keep it running. I bet your MAP sensor is making your truck run like crap. Replace it and the TPS and go from there. Let us know how it went! Hopefully, that Code 15 is an old code. By the way, after I replaced the MAP sensor, my truck has never run better.
