ok i have a 93 f-150 with the 5.0 automatic with o/d.The truck runs fair..
idels ok sometimes it will die on me..going down the rd and you give it some gas it seems to flounde for a few seconds then takes off as if you gave it more gas.Tha cel flashes mostly when you take your foot off the gas like going around a corner..SOOO i hooked up my reader and oh boy..i get koeo codes 10,11,31,33 and 34. on the koer codes i get 13,16 and 25..the koeo codes 31 voltage of the PFE or EVP is below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts..34 is PFE or EVP circut is above limits of 0.67 volts and code 33 i can find no info on....were does this voltige come from??I think its from the EMS or computer.. or is the codes saying the the PFE or EVP is bad??
To start with the 11 says you have no KOEO codes.
The codes after that are CM codes.
31, 33 & the 34 code all belong to the EGR system.
You do not have a PEF you have a EVP sensor mounted on top of the EGR valve.
These codes happened in the last 80 starts of the engine and there have been some time frame between them.
These codes most of the time wind up being bad wiring. The 33 code from memory without looking it up means the EGR valve did not open. This code comes in most of the time with bad vacuum lines to the EGR valve or to the EVR solenoid.
Again without looking them up it seems like the KOER codes you got are all from a cold engine.
I bet if you unscrew the big EGR tube on the bottom of the EGR valve and drop a coin in it and just snug it back on the engine will run OK. Then you can take the coin back out and fix the EGR problem.
Thanks Subford..I will try that in the AM.I do have vacuum at the EGR. i checked that this afternoon.I also unhooked the vacuum line and hooked a hand vacuum pump with a vacuum guage to it while it was running pumped it up and it held vacuum but the motor didnt change at all..I would have thought it would have changed..
had the same codes....tested the egr ,which was fine, traced it to the sensor on top of the egr, tested it and it was bad...replaced it no more codes for that...still had a run rich code(hego sensor rich fault) which turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator.Which i replaced.
Truck runs great now and mpg got way better.
Or take it off, clean it. Make sure it opens and closes, then put it back on. If you blocked off the egr and nothing changed, my bets are your problems are else where.
Ok this afternoon i changed the EVP or EGR valve position sensor, same deal same codes..Tomorrow i guess i will do the EGR valve after work.. Till then THANKS ALL..
