I seem to have misplaced my wiring diagrams-
This weekend, I managed to strip the shifter linkage out of my 69, all the junkyards were closed on Saturday, so I am stuck putting a floor shifter I had into the truck. I think it's from a Torino, since the engine and transmission in the parts truck I pulled this from were from one. At any rate, I need to bypass the switch so I can start it and check out my handywork. Which two wires do I have to clip together to make it work?
That's a good question, I have a spare switch at the shop and not handy to check with a meter for color codes. I would make sure your in neutral and jumper the starter relay, a quarter fits between the big + positive and the little post to start my 68 truck. This will get you running for now until other answers come along.
There should be four wires, two for back up, two for neutral safety. It was all in a single molded flat plug. Have to poke under mine tonight to confirm which is which. I bypassed mine when I put in stick shift. Simple short wire with single plug ends on it. Blue/red could be it...seems black/red was back up lights
Seems both my '67 and '69 were the same set up, but "maybe" different colors? Have to look at both.

I hunted it out with my fluke meter (finally was able to get back to the shop and get it)- it's the red wire with black/blue stripe. I used a scotch-loc on the two wires, now it starts.
It's moving forward. I'm trying to drill a hole through the shift arm on the c4 without disassembling the tranny. FWIW, don't try to use a 90º adaptor on a drill unless you can hold it really tight. When they spin around and the tip of the bit hits you in the eyebrow, it hurts.
Just watch that scotch lok. The one day you are in a hurry and are in a tuxedo...those freak'n things will loose connection and you'll be scratchin your head wondering why the darn truck won't turn over!!
The chances of me having a tux on? About one in freakin' never.
Chances are far better my road kit will have a whole box of scotch locs or other types of wire and connectors to put something together. It's a temp fix for now, when I go through this truck late this year or early next year, it's getting a whole new harness, with a more modern fuse box.
I have a few disposable plastic suits I carry in each vehicle, kind of like the first time you drive without a spare tire your you'll have a flat every time.
The last time I had a tux was a wedding, a death march suit it is.
Second time around we eloped, that was more fun no tux better woman.
.....=o&o>.....

I carry a carpet scrap. Works great for having to get underneath the vehicle on the side of the road somewhere. Keeps my clothes clean and gives me something better than gravel to lay on.
I have a few army blankets that I keep in most of my vehicles. Good sturdy and very handy to have. Good for laying on wet ground or keeping warm if need be.
