The EPA will probably want to know that I just destroyed a habitat in my side yard- the 1970 chassis I have planned to go under my '64 Slick! After chasing the wildlife from it, and removing the remains of a cab, it is now safely in the garage. I'm even starting to tear it down and clean it up, for that eventual day when the '64 makes an 8' trip sideways to its new home. The '70 was my son's truck until it got wrecked, and it has a fairly fresh 302 and C4, plus the entire front end is rebuilt (it's a disc brake front end, too). It even has a custom 28 gallon aluminum gas tank in the back. So I'm running out of excuses not to get this project done! I'll keep you posted.
My biggest challenge (besides myself) is the restrictive neighborhood I live in. You are not allowed to have a 'nonoperational' vehicle in the driveway. It either has to be in the garage or behind the house. Well. seeing as how houses are only about 6' apart around here, the back yard is out of the question. And of course, with a frame swap, you essentially have TWO 'nonoperative' vehicles at once! The garage really isn't big enough, so I'm going to get the new chassis all ready, then roll both of 'em out in the driveway, and get the sheet metal moved in one weekend. Phew! That's why we're shopping for rural acreage in the Carolinas. We hope to be move by 2010- only 4 years away. I'm not cut out for city/suburban life- 'Green Acres' is the place for me!
