Question Ipr

I just bought an IPR sensor. I know where it is. But I don't know how to take it out. Will something leak if I remove it. What is the right way to do this??? Thanks,

Drain the high pressure oil reservoir. Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the "pal" nut holding the solenoid on. Remove the IPR, it takes a deep 29mm socket.

You can use an oil suction pump to drain the resevoir or you can plug hole from the IPR with a rag or a champagne top. But you're better off draining the resevoir.

Yu can either suck it out the top or let it drain onto the top of the engine when you remove it. The reservoir holds about 1 quart, so it will make a mess if you don't have a way of pulling it out the fill hole.

it's a regulator , not a sensor. It
works in conjuction with the ICP(Injection Control Pressure) sensor.

Not very much oil comes out when you remove the IPR. I just put a rag underneath the IPR when I replace them. If you remove the high pressure pump, a lot of oil will come out and it's a mess.

ajf99ford, the oil pressure gauge on the dash reads pressure from the low pressure side (lubrication) and has nothing to do with the high pressure side except providing a full high pressure reservoir. It take 6-7 psi to make the gauge read "normal". Better check it out, because if it is working correctly, then you have a very serious problem. Does the term "spun bearings" mean anything to you? I recommend putting a manual gauge on there to make sure you really do have pressure, otherwise stop driving it!
