clutch safety switch

I have had trouble starting my 93 F-250 Diesel for a while now. You had to really push hard on the clutch pedal to engage the safety switch. This morning, I pushed so hard that I broke the connection from the shaft to the pedal.

It seems that it would be easier to bypass the thing all together and then just fix the connection.

Does anyone know how to do that?

Thanks

Mine did the same thing, I believe you just take the two wires that go the the position switch and splice them together. If you don't want the wires to touch constantly you could wire them to a toggle switch that you flip to make the connection ( like when pushing in the clutch ) and flip again after starting to break contact. If you put it under the dash it would be one heck of an anti theft device, no one but you would ever be able to start it.

Could just replace the switch and keep the safety feature. Mine broke last summer and I did exactly as you stated, and started to get lazy about pushing the clutch pedal to start the truck, but had it in neutral. Except for once, I had it in reverse (I park it in reverse 99% of the time and didn't think about it). Truck moved backwards, into the front of my other car.

Crunch!

Replace the switch. You'll be glad you did considering how much a grill, headlights, and surrounds on whatever is behind you costs

Ain't that the TRUTH? Especially if your truck is in top condition and it starts with the barest turn of the key.

Some of these switches are designed to protect us from ourselves.
