I have a 04 5.4l and at idle I hear a really loud knocking noise coming from the engine. I went to Autozone and they said it may be that I am running too thin of oil, I am running 5w20. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The noise is likely the Cam Phasers (Left and Right). The TSB is 06-4-7 and, if not covered by warranty, costs $1,122 to correct. In effect, they are replacing both camshaft gears. If you are not covered by the warranty, I would not have it done. I got mine in just under the 36K limit.
I have a noise like that from time to time, not very often, only at idle when my truck is in gear. If I put it into neutral or step on the gas, it goes away. Could that be the same thing?
Mine showed up all the time but was subdued when warm. The problem made my truck sound like it had a diesel (albeit quieter), especially when initiating a slow acceleration while cold.
