What size are the two nuts on the motor mounts? Are most bolts standard size on Fords trucks?
I'm started replacing the oil pan today. I got the oil pan loose and removed the old gasket. I got the upper plenum off, Its got a lot of oil in there??? I loosen the exhaust from the manifolds. I need to find a flare tools to loosen the lines to the radiator. What else do I need to loosen by the transmission before lifting the engine a few inch's to get the pan out?
There's a round sponge like foam 3/4" wide gasket and its about 4" wide located at the front of the transmission. Its 3" above the transmission weep hole. I can see it better when I moved the oil pan forward a little, it's hanging down about an 1" out of place what it that gasket for? Should I push it back up?
At the front of the transmission there a small weep hole, there is motor oil dripping from it, is the the rear main seal that bad. Can that leaking oil get on the torque converter?
Don't know what the gasket is - the rear main seal is a mechanical seal (metal rubber unit) and oil will show up at weep hole if leaking but look at everything else real closely before going after the rear main; valve cover gaskets, etc. It's really amazing how far and how torturous the routes can be for oil/antifreeze to where they will show up on the engine. Oil shouldn't hurt the torque converter as it would affect a clutch system.
