I am trying to swap my auto lock hubs to warn premium hubs (with conv./spindle nut kit). My bronco is an 88’ xlt with push button four wheel drive. As I understand it I have a problem with them being flange mounted or something like that. Does anyone know about them being dealer only? I am very confused… Why are 87’ and 88’ different then any other year? Also, does anyone recommend hub fuses?

I think you may have problem with your flange mounted hubs since you'll need to change a few other things to be able install a warn hub. There are a few peepz with similar setup -- they should be able to tell you more.
Had to look into this thread to find out what it takes to swap a WUB. I was imagining that it must have something to do wit dat wascally wabbit!
I am having trouble recalling right now which model years are indeed affected by this but the difference is the mounting bolt pattern. Some had a three or five bolt hub mounting and all the rest have a 6 bolt design. Warn and others make the adaptor kit so that the units that fit everything else will fit the odd-ball setup. If I were you I'd do a visual inspection of the hubs first though. Don't assume that parts retailers have it right. I found Warn Premiums listed for 91-98 Broncos in more than one retailer's listings. I'm still lookin' for a 97-98 model Bronco to fit the set I bought.
BTW unless you are doing something that you think will break a u-joint or an axle, skip the hub fuses.
