Spark Plugs- Motorcraft or Autolite

I'm about to change my spark plugs and have a few questions. I know that the original Motorcraft plugs are no longer made (AWSF22E). The replacement plug according to Motorcraft is AGSF22WM which is a single platinum-iridium electrode (WM). And then there is the Autolite APP103 which is a double platinum plug. Does Motorcraft even make a double platinum plug for the 5.4 (PP)? Or should I use the Autolite APP103? Thanks

Look up the current and correct Motorcraft part number at www.motorcraft.com

The AutoLite PP is an excellent substiitute.

The replacement plug according to Motorcraft is AGSF22WM which is a single platinum-iridium electrode (WM). Would this plug or the Autolite double platinum be better. Thanks

You have your choice between the factory-recommended part and one made by the manufacturer of the OEM-specc'ed part.

Take your pick, either will do fine.

Ford has moved from the double plat design to a "fine-wire" design (plat/iridium) that does not require an enhanced side electrode, thus the WM design, for most replacement plugs.

You could also spend $96 and get some Denso Iridiums.

I have some information that may help some people out who are doing a spark plug change. I bought my spark plugs at Ford for $6.50 each and noticed on the box the part number SP479. It also had the part number AGSF22WM. Anyway, to make a long story short, Autozone carries these spark plugs but it's listed under the part # SP479 for $2.49. Autozone does not list it under the Motorcraft spark plug # of AGSF22WM, they use SP479.

So for anyone buying plugs at autozone SP479 = AGSF22WM

Staying in the same field here, I have some info on spark plugs etc. I changed mine out recently to Autolite, and I did the Spark plug wires as well. And when I got done, it wouldn't start!! Problem--FIRING ORDER--we messed up on 2 wires-D'OH. Check the firing order on your trucks if you ever have the same problem.
