With the cost of a tank of gas these days, was looking for a locking fuel door for the SD. The truck is dark grey color and I was looking for a black one that locks. I can find hundreds of chrome & brushed aluminum ones but I'm thinking that black would look better on my rig. Anybody know where I can get an aluminum fuel door, that is hopefully powder coated black, that locks?
Thanks,
gw
The only ones I've seen are all aluminum/billet-colored. You could always get one of those and paint or powdercoat it...
Have you considered just a locking fuel cap? I have one on mine which you can see a picture of and the info on it in the link in my gallery. It's in the "Other Mods" album. They're much cheaper, too (about $12 at Wal-Mart).
I'm starting to think that a custom job will be my only option. I just can't believe that I'm the only one on the planet that is looking for this little goodie. Story of my life.
A cheap alternative to the billet door, if your not afraid to drill a hole in the fuel door, would be to install a cam lock similar to what's on all those tool boxes in the back of trucks. Probably cost about $5 at the local hardware store. Sometimes their called drawer locks. Similar to this.
