black door locks

I am looking for door locks for my 1975 F250. But, I want black ones. Everything I have found is chrome. Anyone know if there are some black locks available that work with this truck? If not, what would be the best way to paint them?

To clarify, these are the keyed part, on the outside of the door panel.

Thanks.

You can try these http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_fa...k-plastic.html, that will get you 1/2 way there, but its plastic.

Your other option is to make them black, and if what you have are OEM I believe they are actually stainless steel, not chrome, though it doesn't matter because if you are going to paint them the process is the same. You would have to sand/sandblast, clean, etch primer, paint, etc. It is very difficult to get paint to effectively stick to stainless or chrome. Even if done well paint will quickly chip off of a door lock though, your best bet would be to get them powdercoated as it will last a little longer.

You might get one from a newer truck and see if it will interchange

Sorry all I have ever seen is chrome/stainless and shiny.

You can remove them easy enough (remove the slide on lock tab from the back side/access with the door panel removed. Don't forget to disconnect the lock actuator rod first and them DIY power coat them in your oven.

Rough up the smooth surface with some light sanding and use black appliance paint and it should last longer.

You can send em to an anodizer. Maybe for something so small, they will give you a cost break
