Hello all. Got a question. In about two weeks I am going to be moving to northern Arkansas. I currently have an Edle Performance RPM intake and a 750 cfm Edle carb on my F250 w/390. I more than likely am going to end up driving the truck. Would I do better on gas if I use the original intake and a smaller carb, or should I leave it like it is? That is about 650 miles, so saving gas is definately a priority. All input is respected and will be taken into consideration. Oh yeah, if I do put the old intake back on, is there a 2 barrel aftermarket carb that is recomended that will work w/ the intake?
You'll spend for on gaskets than you'll save on gas.
It might even do better the way it is.
Fill the tires up to the max on the sidewalls
Advance the timing til it just rattles and back it off by a degree or two.
Drive slow.
I don't know your current mpg. But just for example lets assume you currently get 8mpg. And let's assume a 2bbl intake and carb will get you 12mpg (it won't but I'm being generous).
Now, first, can you find a new carb for $81.00?
Second what is your time worth? It's going to take most of a dayto convert and tune. So to go back and forth would eat up 2 days.
Third are you willing to chance the problems of leaking seals etc caused by removing and installing the manifold?
I'd say work a few extra hours and just drive it.

Next, read your plugs. If they're black and sooty, you're running the thing too rich, which wastes gas. You want them a very light tan toward the end of the ground strap, almost white. If you see little spots on them though, it's pinging so back off the timing in that case.
