I have a Homelite chainsaw Model UT10947D and it keeps dripping bar oil when not in use. It leaks in the area where the cover is over the chain sprocket. Any ideas what to look for or a cure? Thanks.
If you take the bar off, you can see a little hole in it, which is where it oils the bar and chain. There is a hole on the plate of the saw where the oil is fed. Get a can of brake cleaner and clean that hole out real nice. If you are comfortable enough, take the saw mostly apart and clean it out, it will make a world of difference for making it last.
another thing to think of is if you don't clean out that area often the chips soak up oil and they will drip during down time. but as stated obove clean it, clean it, clean it
I don't have my brake downs here to tell me what saw that is but many homelites have had this problem, one that comes to mind is the super 2 or xl mini and the Bandit.I have spoke with homelite tech and this is what they told me keep the oil 3/4" to 1" below the cap when filling it and when you are done with it loosen the cap to relieve the pressure in the tank.I know some of the newer small saws that you get at homedopey or blowes leak oil at a rubber connector under the muffler and is just a bad design.
