My dealer got in its final shipments of 06 diesels today. Rather than buying one that had sat for months I thought I would tackle the idea of jumping on a new one that just rolled off today. I took a glimpse and found a few I liked. Im not sure what constitutes a good deal on one right now. I use to think x-plan was good but now i'm guessing I should shoot below invoice. The MSRP was 44070 and the invoice price was just at 39000 with the 2500 rebate would put it at about 36500. How much below invoice should I expect the dealer to go given the car just drove on the lot? Are there any rumors of better rebates and APR's in the weeks to come? How soon?
I don't know...I still think invoice is a good deal, especially if it's the truck you want. I guess it depends on the dealer and your location, but not every dealer wants to sell a truck that just rolled off for less than invoice. In fact, most around here would be in no hurry to sell you one that has been sitting for months for even invoice. I assume X is still a couple hundred below invoice on a SD. To me, it's good deal. I got my truck at a good deal below invoice, but it isn't what I would expect every day.

My X-Plan is a little higher than the invoice. The dealer has some big stickers on the windshields which was the invoice pirce minus the $2500 rebate. A few other guys in the super duty section said they have them for the low 30s in Texas but I haven't found such deals in Florida. I just don't want to get hitched into a 5.5% apr now and have ford come out with 0% in a month.
I don't know your market down there, but Diesels aren't distress merchandise. Some profiles (Lariat/King Ranch Crews) are actually getting on the short side. You can take a run at them, but I'd need one heckuva good reason to consider a invoice or below deal on one of them.
