X-plan question
Dealer Invoice - (0.4% * Dealer Invoice) + $275 Administration Fee
Are they saying: dealer invoice MINUS (.4% TIMES dealer invoice) plus $275 fee? If so this is no different than what one would pay outright is it not?
Dealer invoice does not include the hold back which is sacrosanct and is the main profit an a sale anyway. So what's the big advantage here? In that most buyers pay dealer's invoice anyway.
If dealers invoice is say $30K then .4% is $120. But your losing that and then some with the $275 fee.
HOWEVER, not all vehicles will be x-plan priced, and that is up to the dealer. I bought my 09 in 2010 and they wanted to move it. It's USUALLY vehicles that have been on the lot and won't move, or the dealer is in a really good mood...(Tell them you have Quintuplets that are all going to need cars next year)
Additionally, if a dealer needs to source a vehicle for you, the X-plan prevents the dealer from charging you a transportation fee.
I purchased my 2010 Focus on X-plan and left the dealer feeling that I could have done better.
I purchased my 2011 truck with an X-plan pin in hand but I never used it. I got a screaming deal on my truck that X-plan couldn't touch.
The thing I don't like about X-plan is once you announce your intentions to the plan, all negotiations are supposed to cease as per Ford's rules.
There is a local "one price" Ford dealer, his prices are 4% over invoice which means he sells everything at X-plan and most people don't have a clue.
