Window vents (ventvisor)

I want to get one of the "ventvisor" type producits for my '06. One guy tells me to get in the the channel type and the next says stick on. I had the in the channel type in my 03 and I didn't like it because it sounded like it really was bogging down the power window motor whenever the window went up the whole way. But then again, I don't know if I trust tape to hold those things on either? HELP!

I put the stick on kind on my truck two years ago and they are still holding stong. Just make sure you clean the area real good with wipe that comes with them. It's an industrial type adhesive and sticks real good. The only problem I've had was when I was scrapping my window last winter and took a good chunk out of the visor when I hit it.

I too opted for the stick on rather than the chanel one's and i think they are much better and as long as it's a very clean surface you should have no problems.

I wound up ordereing the Weathertech (Made in Germany) In-channel visors. I haven't gottem them yet, but I think they look better than the stick ons.

I'm leaning more towards the In-channel ones myself. I had the stick on's with my first Explorer, just didn't like the install and how it looked afterward. Had the In-channels on my second Explorer, much cleaner look. Although as Brian mentioned, it does seem to strain the window motor briefly near the final closing point. Didn't have any problems with my Explorer windows in the 2.5 years they were on there.

It really seems to be a matter of preference... Like others... I just don't like the look of the Stickons. I guess once I get my in-channels, I will let you know how I like them and whether or not I made the right choice

Steve,

What'd you wind up paying for the Weathertech's? and where did you get them from. I like the look of those the best so far, but they seem a bit pricey for window vents.

Tony,

Yea - they are VERY pricey - I won't lie to you... I paid $107 shipped ($95+$12) for them from Weathertechs website.... Other on-line vendors carried weathertech visors but mostly for cars and not trucks, or they had trucks but not the Dark ones , just the clear ones...

$95 covers a set of four since I have an Extended cab. Other brands are cheaper ($45 or so) in price but maybe so as well in quality fit etc..

So is the extra $50 worth it... who knows.. we will see.. I have a friend who have Lund inchannels.

I have been selling off some un-needed stuff I have had kicking around in my storage unit.. so I didn't buy these until I sold enough stuff.. haha.. so $95 isn't so much of a shock...

I ordered mine from performance products.com. They are a super company to deal with. They were $90 for the set. They are the in channel type. The fit and finish are awesome. I had stick ons on my Expedition and they felt really cheap. The ones I got are much thicker and fit the window lines perfectly. They don't stick way out from the body either. I have a picture in my gallery if you would like to see them. For the little bit of price difference I think that they are far superior.

Just curious, how do the in channel type attach to the truck?

The front ones have locater tabs on the fron, rear and top corner. Yo install the rear of the visor first then stick the locator tab into the channel. You then need to flex the visor and it wedges itself into the distance between the bottom of the window and the top corner. The rear ones are very similar although they have double side tape on the visor that sticks to the inside of the window channel. They are held in place by the sides of the window channel. It's really a very simple concept plus they don't move at all once installed!

Thanks....what if I wanted to remove them for some reason... can it be done without any damage to my truck?

Yes - they can be removed

That is one of the best advantages of the In-channel, they shape in and snap out

Removal is no problem. About 5 min and they are gone! No visible signs of ventvisors at all. No sticky glue or adhesive tape to mess with!
