Hi everyone.my name is troy i have been a ford man my whole life (i am 42 )I recently traded in my 94 F350 for a 2001 F250 V10 4x4 I have owened the truck for @4 months and i am on the third spark plug that blew out of the head.does anyone know what FORD is going to do about this problem.I know lots of people with the same problem but not as extreme.any help would be appreciated.
Ford will do nothing to compensate you for the problem. Your best bet it to invest in timesert fix. It is a tough call, it not just the V10 with plug issues. All of the modular engines have had issues. The 4.6L, 5.4L, & the 6.8L. The most you can do is make sure all the plugs are torqued to the proper specs. It seems the 99-early 02's are the ones with the most problems. If I hade 3 plugs blow I would be driving something else. I don't know how you use your truck, but mine goes non-stop to the tune of 20K miles per year. I would hate the truck forever if I had that many plug problems.
Most likely someone did something wrong like didn't tighten the plugs or over torqued them. Use the timesert repair and take the rest out and check and torque.
http://fulltorque.com/ heres the other company that makes the good kits sounds like some one did not use the proper way of changing plugs .
imm its best to upgrade all at one time to the newer threads and be over with it forever
well after 3 more weeks at FORD,I finally got her back.now I have 2 new heads and she is running great.ford picked up what the warranty didnt cover.(@$500)hope this is the end of this plug issue.
