Delivered a Ford truck & trailer to Florida this winter, it had very dark tinted windows. Was extremely hard to see the mirrors. The dark tint looks cool...sitting at a show,, but I would not go real dark if you are going to drive it.
I have light green tint on my 46...no problems with it.

Looks are not everything if you want a safer ride. It sounds like you were looking for justification to do what you know might be wrong for you. You should first consider that the film manufacturers differ in the loading of the film. Some are laminate film, some are filled with other composites, and others are vacuum deposited. The end products act and look differently but all have a rating based on the amount ( in % ) of light transmission and refraction values.
In short, a dark looking film can transmit more light than a light looking film and v/v. Some have a shorter useful life, others are more resistant to surface scratching. You can use a film with a 33% index that still looks dark from the outside if the opposing windows are tinted, but you can see through them from the inside like the late model tempered glass. If you ever drive your ride at night, this is very important. If you ever need a rearview mirror while the window is up, this is important. You may want to consider Diamond films from Film Technologies Intl. Great trans / index values, looks dark, great scratch resistance, lifetime warranty, cleans with any cleaner , even Windex. Looks most like LM factory glass. Plus, the darker tints are just more reason to be pulled over by "Johnny Law" if the ride fits a profile.
Of course, this is all just another opinion, so you look into the facts.

Jim,
Beautiful truck! I love 55's.. and that black one is great. If it were mine I would leave it alone with no tint, for some reason it balances well with the chrome and wheels. Thats just my opinion though. I see you're in Ruskin, not too far from me! I'm in Bartow (Polk County).
