Not to sound like a jacka$$ here, but first of all, fill out your signature. For all I know you are driving a Buick, and the Kwik mod will do you no good. Secondly, take a little intiative and run a search on it. You will find more than enough info to answer you questions. If after you have taken your own intiative to run a search, and done your homework by reading the results, then we will be glad to answer any other questions you may have.
And welcome to FTE, just remember, take a penny give a penny, that is what this site is all about!

Miss that ever important cup of coffee this morning Grunt?
I resemble the remark about the Buick.
The 6637 is a safe modification with or without other tinkering. It's not that ist's cheap, but the insurance is priceless. You can also go with bigger better more expensive filtration systems, but if you are just driving around town with the occasional tow or road trip the 6637 is great. I use it and I tow 12-18K at least twice a week.

Napa 6637 filter
4" OD stainless steel or aluminzed exhaust pipe in about a 4" long section
4" band clamp
Screwdriver
Remove the lid from your air filter and remove the old filter. Loosen the band clamp that connects the filter lid to the intake hose and remove the lid. Also remove the filter minder from the filter lid, and place the filter minder to the side. You can zip tie it to something out of the way as you won't need it anymore. In the bottom of the filter tray remove the screws holding it in, as well as the screws on top of the tray next to the battery case. Remove the intake temperature sensor from the filter tray and zip tie it up on the brake lines coming from the reservoir. Wiggle the tray out from the engine compartment. Now you'll have plenty of room for the nice big new filter you're about to put in. Just shove one end of the exhaust pipe into the intake tube and tighten the band clamp. The new filter will slide over the other end of the exhaust tube and tighten with the new band clamp. Lay the filter where the old tray used to sit, making sure its down as far as possible. As you carefully close the hood, check for clearance. If your filter is sitting down in the tray properly, you can close the hood without a problem.

Sorry, but I tend to get a little sick of people jumping on here, not ever contributing anything to help anyone else, and then being too lazy to do any research themselves. Basically they are saying "hey, even though I could find out all the answers on my own, but could someone give me the answers on a silver platter!". I mean come on, the Kwik mod, how much info is there already easily available!
It would be different if someone was in the middle of a project, hit a road block, then got on here and said " I need help, I cant figure this out!" But if you have the time, you should try doing a search. For some reason, noone wants to use that feature. I agree, sometimes it doesnt help, but in this particular situation it certainly would have! And the signature thing is just a pet peeve of mine, sorry.
The Kwik mod is an excellent move, do the CCV mod at the same time, well worth it. I love mine! Seen about .5-1 MPG improvement, but I love the sound of the turbo even more!

Okay, I am done venting now, sorry guys!

Of course, he is a brand new user and has a whole 2 posts! I mean, I think every single person who joins these boards should have complete knowledge of their trucks, as well as know all the links to specific articles, forums, acronyms, etc on this board. If they don't know this by their second post, then we should definately make an example of them in front of everyone.
Come on, if you don't know what a Kwik filter is, then jeeze, we can assume you don't know how to wipe your own bottom!!!!!!!

Did I answer his questions? I think so. Give a man a fish, he can eat for one day, teach him to fish and he can eat forever. I also welcomed him to the forum, and offered to answer any questions he had after he did the search. This forum has helped me out of more jams than I can say, and also has given me the tools to be able to help myself out of a jam. I have asked many questions, and have gotten a lot of help, and also offered help where I could. But before I ask anyone for that help, I run a search and see if I can save everyone time.
Wow Grunt, take a deep breath and relax. If it bothers you to have to read his post then do not read it, but that sure was a nice welcome you gave him.
forgot to mention (surprised it hasnt been said already) is that this hoss-of-an-airfilter is only $20,and it can be found at napa for about twice the price (convenience) part 6637, or for $20 at www.fleetfilter.com part 46637.
