hey between the buicks and caffiene DT's around here someone shoot the rabiit that made the rabbit trail which got eveyone off subject. =0) did the kwik wix mod as it's known, bought through fleet filter. works. did it to replace the broke airbox in my truck, not just for performance. had to use some plastic pipe fittings for mine to fit, not real comfortable with that given underhood temps, will change at some point. and with the state my intake hose was in, silicone was my friend. will fix it all with an aftermarket intake hose at some point. good luck, welcome to the forums.

I did my "Kwik" mod tonight. Took me all of about 30 minutes. I did manage to stretch the stock rubber tube over the filter neck. So I didn't need the 4" piece of 4" tubing. I scuffed up the filter neck with some sandpaper to give it some "grip" to help keep the rubber hose in place.
Sounded great on the test drive too..... Bect $20 bucks I ever spent......
Next up, CCV mod. except I don't want to vent it to atmosphere.........
John I'm with you, would love to chunk stock ccv setup but don't like the idea of venting to atmo. I'm trying to get my truck to stop smoking, not add more to it's already extensive path of aroma. but when I get it to quit burning oil, i'll wory about ccv mod.

I hate his brother too... and I'm a hardcore Ford man!. I'd love to have a GS!
If you're a hardcore Ford man you'll probably hate me for my 64 Falcon Conv with a five bolt 289, a really early really nice Wedge Co. five bolt cast steel scattershield, Toploader 4 Speed, and a 66 Hipo 9" rear end. But that's ok.

Yep, hate you too....... All I have is my little, soon to be 472 powered, 87 Mustang drag car. I couldn't own that Falcon..... I'd do something to make it fast and depreciate the value!
My Dad's got a 67 Cougar XR7 getting the body work finished up on it right now.
Sorry, answered my own question. Did a search and saw that some use a "sock" of one material or another, and pull it off periodically to clean. This site is awesome, lots of material and experiences to look at. I'm pretty cheap myself, and this sounds like a slick setup. Can save money to upgrade the exhaust quicker this way! Another question though, where does that gauge fit that is on the box that tells you when the filter is getting plugged? If it is left off, what do you do with the wire that goes to the dash indicator?
Last question, almost payday and decision time approaches. my X has 84000 miles so the engine is still under warranty. Will this mod void the warranty if something should happen? Would it be wiser to do the 4" exhaust mod first, since that should have no effect on the warranty?

thanks
That is the nice thing about this mod, just keep your factory airbox, and if it has to go in, just throw the factory setup back in.
