I have encountered the same problem with my '96 PSD auto. On mine, while accelerating it will go 1st, 2nd, then OD !

It skips a gear. I have been told it could be a "modjulator" I don't know if this is the same as a PCM......or not.

I hope someone here can help us.

If the only thing going wrong with your tranny is OD then the little wire going to the button may be shorting out. I am unsure how th check this but someone will jump in with othe ideas.

to check the wires for the OD button you need to pull the top of the clam shell off you steering column and you will be able to see if one of the very small wires have broken or almost broken. just soldier it back to gether and tape it up.

I have repaired several trucks for what tjbeggs has described. Most of em the wire broke. Easy enough to fix. And inexpensive. May want to check routing especially if you have tilt steering.

It would be great if anyone could help me with the problems I mentioned above, mine is more of a gear skiping problem and a refusal to upshift.

Thanks!

Sounds electrical to me (solenoid). Most tranny shops will scan your tranny for free in hopes that they will get your biz.
