rotating gear selector in AOD?

Question for the experts, I am attempting to add a Lokar Nostalgia floor shift to my 55 F100 running an AOD tranny from a 1989 F150. My selector lever on the tranny is pointing down and Lokar has advised me that the selector needs to be rotated 180 degrees or facing up. They said I would need to drop the pan and make the change.

I am comfortable with mechanical issues and have done considerable work on my old truck but fooling with a tranny will be new to me. Is this something that can be done fairly easily? Suggestions appreciated.

Drop the pan, loosen the nut on the inner end of the shift lever enough to move the internal lever off the flats on the shift lever. Rotate the lever far enough to reengage the inner lever onto the flats on the shift lever. Tighten the nut.

The valve body must be removed to gain access to the retaining nut.

There is also a pin in the case that must be removed.
