Lokar/C4 Linkage

I am putting a Lokar Nostalgia floor shifter in my 50 F-1 and I have a question. When you are looking at the driver side of the C4 tranny, there are two arms attached to the shifting shaft. Does anyone know which way they turn to shift from P to 1 (Low) I saw a diagram that appears to indicate that the top lever, when pulled the rear of the tranny is moving to "P". The Lokar unit is supposed to be for the C4 but that seems oposite to the Lokar shifter requirement. I will call Lokar on Monday but thought one of your fine folks could give me clue.

I just worked on one a few eeks ago and I seem to remember, and my rememberer is getting old, that the inside lever was the kick down linkage and the out side lever was the shift linkage......... looking at the tranny when the outside lever was rotated fully clockwise was park and fully counterclockwise was low...........

The outside lever is the kick down, the inside lever is the gear selector, remove the nut and washer and the outside lever comes off. I have the 23 inch swan neck shifter, I had some issues with the brackets that attached to the servo covers, and the tailshaft housing. Its not a big issue I had to enlongate the holes with a rattail file on the brackets where they attachted to the servo covers to get the top bracket to sit straight. I had to remove some material on the bracket that attatches to the tailshaft housing, it was in the area around the ears of the bracket where the bolts pass through. The instructions are confusing yes!
Make sure the trans is in park if not turn the selector shaft fully clockwise! till it stops this is park. now when you install the shifter to the top bracket make sure the shifter is in park. When the shifter is in park the linkage lever is pointing towards the rear of the truck. When I installed the linkage lever on the trans the curved part of the bracket is towards the rear of the trans, the bolt hole for the shifter linkage is @ 12 o'clock high! I installed the linkage rod ends to the shifter and trans gear selector, then cut the threaded rod to a length that will give you some adjustment capabilities. You dont want too much slop and you dont want it too tight. what I'am saying is the rod and ends should turn freely with no bind. So when you pull the shifter back to select a gear the trans selector rotates counter clockwise! Now check your work go through the gears, you should hear a good click from the trans and the shifter you dont want to have it in between gears. Hope this helps you out! I really like their shifter, once you have it set up they work flawlessly! Have Fun!

Any ideas how to connect the AT Kickdown with the Lokar shift lever replacement?

You just put the original kick down assembly back on. Just make sure you leave clearance between the new shifter linkage and the kickdown lever it operates independently of the shifter linkage.

Anybody have a picture of this? I have a C4 but don't seem to have a kickdown lever although I think I see where it would go.

I don't have a picture but if you look at the side of the tranny from the drivers side you should see two levers. The one on the outside points down and the one on the inside points up. The one pointing down is the AT kickdown lever. According to Lokar in a call today, they said the shifter kit includes two levers. One for the shifter and one for the kickdown. We will see.

When I did mine, I also replaced the carb linkage with a Lokar pedal and cable. The kickdown is a cable running up to the carb. It pulls the kickdown lever when you go to W.O.T.
works great, BTW.
