sorry to steal your thread, but I have a 98 5.4L and my check engine light came on, and got the codes read, and am going to replace my o2 sensors. Well I bought 2 of the bosch o2 sensors, and I got underneath it and found 4, 2 right after the manifolds, and 2 after the cats. I figured the main ones are the ones after the manifolds, but what do the other 2 do?? And do I need to replace them as well??
I did some searching on this forum and found this post...
"The pre-cat sensor is used to adjust the fuel trim, the post-cat is used to simply monitor the cat efficiency, correct?"
Also I know they come in different wire lengths, but are they all the same besides the lengths of the wires??
^Your research is correct, pre-cat sensors control fuel delivery, post-cat sensor monitor catalyst efficiency. There should be little difference (except pehaps quality) between the vendors.
