Got a 2004 E150 van with 40,000 miles. When I take my foot off the brake after a stop I hear a pretty strong clunk that sounds like it's coming from the back of the van. Any ideas on what it might be?
Have both the front and rear replaced when you have it done. It's pretty easy to do yourself but you need to know how before attempting it or you'll be scratching your head trying to figure out how to get the u-joints out.
The reason to replace both is because if one is wearing out in a certain spot, it's almost for sure the other is too.
Pretty early for u-joints to go out unless the stems are out of alignment but it may have just been a crappy one from the start.
