I FINALLY got the new suspension on my 65 F250. I just got it started today. I had some nightmares trying to get it running. The previous owner welded the headers/collectors/exhaust as one big piece, so changing the starter turned into a multi-day process. Now I need some headers w/a bolt on collector, tweak a few things, bleed the brakes, and get the power steering working. It's almost ready to be driven again.
Awesome!! Haven't seen yah around in quite a bit
You know thats the easiest way to keep your exhuast from leaking
Yea I was out of doing anything for awhile while I was looking for a new job and basically had no money. I finally found a job with verizon, so plan on getting back to some meets.
well I just recently bought a new house so that will keep me busy for awhile, actually it's in pretty good shape so it doesn't need too much other than the few odds & ends. It's small but then it's just me and I can push mow the yard in all of 20 min. I do have future plans for a storage building that I can keep the mower, fourwheeler, and bike into.
I put a set of Monroe Gas Magnum shocks on my truck. Rears looked OEM, and played like accordions. Front passenger was a Magnum as well, but had a hole in it. Front driver's was a Magnum, too, and actually worked. Now they all work, which is good, because just after that I helped a friend move 400 miles, and he had a LOT of stuff. We packed that truck bedrail to rail, tailgate to window, and a foot and a half over the top of the cab. Thank goodness I had helper springs in the rear. Truck ran fine the whole way, though it was down on power in the mountains. Coming past Breezewood, PA, I managed to go 47MPH at WOT. But the truck was just fine. Leaking some oil at the pan gasket, but not much. Next up: floorpan & windshield.
Offenhauser dual-plane intake
squarebore-spreadbore adapter
Crane 260H cam
Hayes heavy-duty clutch
Catco cat
new driver's floorpan
interior carpet
Bunch of +5HP stickers
Next ordering phase:
bunch of bolts, carb studs, etc.. to put this stuff together.
Lifters
Gaskets
Throttle linkage
pads, shoes, belts, hoses
more body panels if neccesary?
Hmm.. I guess I gotta get before and after sound clips- one with a really leaky exhaust gasket, and rotten glasspack, and then cammed w/ a full exhaust. I wonder if I can get some dyno time? Anyone got a "g-tech"?
My current project is restoring an old 1989 F-150. I just finished getting the key to turn the darn thing on instead of a push button the last owner had wired when the truck suddenly wouldn't start. For all you who don't know, it was a $12 dollar part, underneath the dash and on top of the steering column. The ignition switch. I'm looking foraward to hanging out here in the Virginia Chapter and getting to know some of you folks. Have a good one and check out my truc in my gallery.
Still busy redoing bathroom in previous house so I can sell it to get money to build a garage at new place. Looked at 7 different bathtubs before finding one that wasn't damaged, what a pain. Went to Richmond last Mon to pick up a 79 Mustang for youngest son. Now to get it up to NY sometime. 86 F250 is getting tired and may not handle to many more trips.
Question? Who needs a 302 block? My neighbor has on sitting in his pepsi truck and said he would give it to me if I wanted it. I'll sell it If anyone is interested.
I also have a 302, which was functional and possibly still is. It ran fine before I removed the body off the donor 80' truck that I needed the tranny from it and other small parts. I drove it home from when I bought it. I would like to get rid of the entire piece, frame, 9" rear w/ the front IFS, 30 gal. fuel tank and 302. Bring 3 extra tires w/ rims and its yours. I would like to trade it for any 66-77 Bronco parts or cash. PM if any intrest...
If I had three extra tires that you could actually use that were not worn to the wire, I would after a look at it. I would piece it out to help out my 89 F-150, which might not really need it, but to make it much better it might help. The only problem is that I am strapped as it is with the money I am putting in this truck to get it the way I would love to have it, and February we are all headed out to Florida to meet that guy with the big black round ears and a pup named Pluto. Ready for that one. I would love to have a frame that I could restore and transfer the body of my original truck onto.....but I don't want to overstep my boundries, ya know!
