My 1995 F350 4X4 460 5spd 3:55 gears spark knocks under a load cant figure it out. I have had this truck for almost 5 years has done it ever since Ive had it. When I bought it had about 90k on it know 135k only thing that will make it completely quit is 92 octane. I have checked the timing and the egr valve works with a vacum tester. also did a fuel induction service at work (snake oil probably but was worth a shot) I just wondered if this was normal or if anyone else has had this problem any info would be great thanks

Same thing in my 1996 F-250 w/460. I does seen that different brands of gas may make a slight difference (additives?).
Maybe switch to 89 octane for a few tanks and see the spark knock is something you can live with? Maybe fill the thank with half 87 and half 92 octane?
With the price of gas these days the high octane price only adds about $0.02 per mile to drive.
Same on my 89 F-150 with 94 302W. Still working through what to check next. Sounds like lifters but apparently it's timing related. The only thing I found that works is removing the shorting bar on the distributor so it doesn't advance the timing. Stopped the pinging but now have to sort it out. We have 4 different types of unleaded here. and it pings on all of them even with octane booster added. Go figure ?
Different gas brands will make a difference where I live we only have 2 different kinds better on one brand worse on the other. Even with the better brand when pulling a load will spark knock just as bad. I should no better and put 92 in it when Im going to haul, sometime are more unexpected than others lol

run some seafoam thru it. what brand/type of plugs are you running and whats the condition of the plug wires? what is your timing set at, you said you checked it but may still be incorrect. also how warm is the motor getting?
In all the posts, people keep referring to this "seafoam" stuff. What is that? What does it do? Maybe we have a similar product but with a different name. Just curious.
Cheers
seafoam, can be purchased at Napa. you put it thru you throttlebody and run for a few mins. then shut if off for 15. it will clean the intake runners, and the heads. you dump the second half of the can into you gas tank as well. then you start it up and run it good in the driveway until it stops smoking. once this is done you should change plugs and oil but not everyone does this.
I thought a tune up would help less than 10k miles ago motorcraft plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter etc etc everything but an air filter has a K&N drop in filter Been a while since I checked the timing but if I remember it was 8-10 degress before TDC and went to base with spout connector out. I have got a mechanical temp gauge in it temp gets to 190-200 all the time
now the timing should read 10*btdc with spout removed and motor warmed up. I suggest you double check the timing just to make sure. some times its the simple stuff that solve the big problems ya know.
also check for any exhaust leaks or cracked manifolds, they can sometimes sound like detonation/ping
