0n the 03's and older, the IAC is located on the top/back of the intake manifold. Just remove the plastic cover, and you can see it. two bolts, one harness and it is off. Your problem sounds exactly like the IAC issues they usually cause.
Yes its the 5.4 And I read another post that sounded a lot like the problem
ive been having and they replaced the tps Throttle Postion Sensor and it made
the problem go away. Desperate at this point for any opinions Thanks dd
I replaced my IAC a little over a week ago. It really smoothed out but now it's idling bad again. Only when A/C blowing pretty high, truck stopped and in Drive. It was jumping up in RPM's, but now it's jumping down.
Also, I noticed on my new IAC, there doesn't appear to be a spring inside like on my old one. I wonder if this is a "new improved" version since these tend to fail?
Going to put on a new TPS. I'm also going to clean my MAF sensor at the same time, which I need to pick up some electrical cleaner before I tackle the MAF. I already have the TPS (Motorcraft from eBay = $25 including shipping, received in 1.5 weeks).
I know both of these jobs combined will take less than 1/2 an hour, but the schedule hasn't permitted and it's not a huge deal since it's still idling better than before I replaced the IAC.
I'll do both of these probably this weekend, and I'll keep everyone posted.
