Went and checked out a 1974 f250 390 4x2 auto. Paint was in decent condition, ran good but had a little hesitation when you'd punch it. Car had a rebuild 2 years ago then was sitting so it might have been the 2 year old gas? It's one of my dads friends, he wants 1500. I told him i'd get back to him tomorrow. I think its the one, is that steep though?
f25mru49374 is the vin. Thanks guys!

When you say the paint is in "decent condition", do you mean the body and bed are rust-free? What about the condition of the brakes, steering, seats, gauges etc.etc.???
It's very difficult to estimate the value of any truck without much more info. I've seen F250s of about this vintage go for free or for many thousands.
If she is rust free, complete and runs/drives well, $1500 is not an unreasonable price.
Sorry I wasn't more aware. around 50k on the rebuild. Not much rust, there are little rust specs on the door jam that I think I could wipe out. Screws that holds the side view mirrors in are rusted. Seat only has 1 small tear on driver side. Truck steers fine and all the gauges work. Paint overall looks pretty decent, I think some stuff was painted with touchup paint in a can. Has running boards, some alright rims that are aftermarket, and a spotlight. exhaust pipe looks a little rusted on the end. Needs new tags.
Only problem I felt was the slight hesitation when you punch it, I dont know if this is a spark plug issue, old gas issue, or something else? Truck seemed to brake fine also.
Thanks all for checking in.

For the price it's a good deal. Jump on it. Drive it forever and repair it when it needs it. Look at the price of a new one.... plus tax, tags, dealer prep, admin fee, etc you get the picture. Drive it, be gentle with it, treat it well, don't hot dog it and it will be reliable for many years. Keep the oil changed, and fluids in the right places, and do the maintenance required.
I guess it really depends on what's available in your area. Around here, that would be a good price for a 4x4 but I wouldn't pay it for a 2wd in the condition you describe . . . I'd expect to pay $800-$1200. BUT prices are not consistent nationwide so if that seems to be the going rate for a 2wd in your area grab it.
My engine has abot 6,000 miles on a long block rebuild, and after sitting over night or longer it hesitates when I punch it, until it warms up and enough gas is in the carb.
The truck doesn't sound bad, but tell him you'll give him $1,000 in cash now for it, and see what he says, If you wants it gone, there's a good chance he'd take it, but if not, negotate and see what ya'll can work out.
Doesn't sound too bad for the price though,
Good luck
Thanks all. Its my dads friend and thats the lowest he said he'd take. He has a $1800 price on it. I live out here in Oregon, there are some in the area it just was a bit easier since he was a friend but I keep telling my dad he should pay not a dime over 1200. His max he wants to spend is 1500, it'll be treated right and be our family truck for dirt and when you need to haul things and I plan on pulling a boat with it. I guess we'll be making the move on it soon, but I'm definently searching very deep before so.
