battery regulator?
It monitors/senses/dispurses the current coming from the alternator and changes output according to needs of the electrical system.
It should be well grounded.
Disconnect Ground cable from battery >remove the V Reg from fender clean off the back and re-attach.
Your explaination about the clicking was hard to understand.
Are you trying to start the engine and all you hear is a click ?
If so,The starter solenoid is probably doing the clicking, becuase the battery is low and unable to turn the starter over.
Please have a look at the charging system diagram on my Ford Illustration page on my web site.
Access is highlighted below.

It must be grounded to work.
The battery MUST be fully charged !!
Try this.
Once everything is attached to ground & the battery is fully charged,
Take a wire from the positive post + of the Battery and touch the other end to the "S" terminal of the solenoid to see if the starter engages.
If that doesn't make the starter engage.
Is it an automatic?
If so ,maybe the neutral safety start switch isn't working.
Try again with the E. Brake on and the trans. in neutral.

If your battery is charging when the truck is running it is fine. However I would suggest getting the newer electronic type at some point. They are a much better regulator and arent very expensive.
Another question, it may just be me but the rest of the posts confused me
Does your truck start ok?? Or were you just wondering about the clicking noises?Sparky
