Ill start off by stating Im not too mechanically inclined LOL. The first code I got was P1395 Glow plugs bank 1. I dont know how serious that one is, because It never gets that cold here in the San Francisco Bay Area. What do you think? The next code was P0476. Exhaust pressure control valve. Is this the same valve some are removing, or modifying? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=490853 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...ighlight=p0476
I only pulled the codes, because the SES light came on. Im assuming the Glow plugs were the reason for tripping it.
The truck will more than likely go to a dealer to get fixed, but I dont want to fix the P0476, if it would be better to run something else aftermarket. I have an early 99. Thanks!
i am not sure about the Glow Plug code, but for the P0476, i can suggest to undo the Exhaust Backpressure sensor connection, and blow out the tube (going into the front of the right manifold) and the sensor. either one is probably carboned up with exhaust and that is causing the sensor to go crazy. here is a picture of where the sensor is. save yourself time and money, do it yourself.
to the bottom is the passenger side cylinder head, and to the top right is the HPOP rectangular reservoir. the front of the truck is to the right. by the way the connection is the one with the silver pipe going down to the manifold.
