I have 113,920 miles on my truck never a problem till now.
the truck will crank and try to start but not run. I have replaced the crank sensor, cam sensor and both coil packs.
still won't run. any help or suggestions would be greatly appriciated
originally I did not have spark, replaced the coil packs, still didn't have spark. replaced the crank sensor.reassembled and had spark.
the engine will fire real rough but wont run. thought ok I flooded it replaced all the plugs. still the same thing.
Had the Battery disconected over night, reconnected it still wont run. the timing belt is good and also tight, I doubt it could have jumped a tooth. I'm leaning twards the PCM as thats what controls the spark to the coil packs. I have verified all 8 plugs have good spark, but seem to be off time.with the drivers side plugs out, they seem to spark after the compression,as do the passenger side. With either side out and the other side in all cylinders spit flames. so it has to be a timing issue.
I'm waiting for tomorrow for a friend of the families to stop and put a reader on it. He's the head mechanic at the ford garage, if he can't figure it out theres really a problem, and I think I'll invest in some C4. just kidding...
yes ,swapped back to original coils, have fire still wont run. friend at ford garage seems to think the timing belt slipped a tooth even though it apears tight. he should be down later today to put the computer on it anyway, but sounds like I'll be changing the timing belt. probably a good thing anyway, it has about 60 k on it . thanks to everyone for your replies. I'll let you know when I get it running.
Finally, It lives. It was the timing belt after all. It had jumped about ten teeth. It runs like it did when I first bought it. I think it must have been slipping teeth for a while.
Thanks again to all who replied.
